Original Kibworths Neighbourhood Plan (2018)

The referendum on the Kibworths' Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday 25th January 2018. The polling station (Kibworth Grammar School Hall) was open from 7am until 10pm for voting.

A 'yes' vote was returned with 1111 out of 1191 persons that voted, voting 'to use the Neighbourhood Plan for The Kibworths to help it decide planning applications in the Neighbourhood area.'

As the count was greater than 50% approving the plan meant it was adopted (or made) and HDC planners have to take account of the local policies when determining planning applications.

The new HDC Local Plan was adopted in April 2019, so the Kibworths Neighbourhood Plan is now being refreshed to ensure all policies are in full compliance with the new Local Plan policies. The refresh was started in early 2020 and, if a further referendum is required, this is likely to be in 2022 after further consultation and independent examination stages. The pre-submission version of the refreshed Neighbourhood Plan can be found on a separate page.

The Localism Act 2011 introduced the idea of Neighbourhood Development Plans to give local communities a real opportunity to influence future development in their area. When approved and adopted, a Neighbourhood Plan becomes the first document to be consulted whenever a planning application is submitted in the area.

This is a real opportunity for the local community to work together and to take control of the future of the two Kibworth villages (Kibworth Beauchamp and Kibworth Harcourt) by gathering evidence and consulting on a range of topics including housing, employment, leisure, community facilities etc.

The Chair to the Neighbourhood Planning Group is Cllr. Chris Wood of Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council and the Vice Chair is Janet Riley, resident of Kibworth Harcourt.
